Newcastle consultancy business in ‘stronger position than ever’ following Investment for Growth grant
Newcastle-based consultancy business Go Do Ltd is celebrating its best year to date having significantly increased turnover thanks to a business grant from Investment for Growth.
Go Do Ltd provides strategic marketing and progress support to other companies. Headed up by Gordon Dodd, his consultancy provides his clients with in-depth structural reports to help inform their development and business modelling plans.
With a background in Theoretical Physics and having spent a number of years working in the Oil and Gas industry, Gordon creates his reports using a unique profiling combination harnessing logic, technology, models and communication theory.
While greatly received by clients, creating and sharing the reports was hugely time consuming, meaning Gordon’s time spent on administration was hindering his capacity to win new business and help more companies.
Gordon made an application to Investment for Growth to help meet the costs of developing a front-end platform and back-end software, that would allow him to work online with his clients, as well as providing a portal for his customers to download and print their own reports.
Within a matter of weeks, the funding had been approved and platform development was underway. Since then, Go Do Ltd has enjoyed its best year to date since the company launched in 2005, increasing turnover to £180,000 and now employing one part-time member of staff.
Gordon Dodd, managing director of Go Do Ltd, said: “My business is concerned with identifying brand behaviours and personalities at both macroscopic and microscopic levels; from the company, to the teams within a company, right down to the individuals within a team.
“We believe these models of behaviour become the essence of how businesses operate from the strategy to marketing, communications to recruitment attraction.
“Therefore, it’s imperative to benchmark these behaviours in order to progress and develop into the future.
“Due to the nature of my business, meeting clients face-to-face, fact finding, populating our systems and then printing and producing the reports was costly – not just financially but time-wise too as I was only able to dedicate my time to a finite number of clients.
“That’s why I approached Investment for Growth for help in developing a more slick and streamlined system.
“Thanks to the funding from Investment for Growth, we’ve been able to streamline processes. In the past, creating, compiling and printing the reports was cumbersome. Now, customers are given a unique log-in to the web platform, they then complete a 20 minute questionnaire online and the system goes on to generate the report which clients can download and print.
“We’re in a stronger position than ever to work with new customers in new sectors using our unique profiling techniques that were once only available through face-to-face consultations and required a substantial amount of admin time.
“It’s the same methodology applied that our clients know and love, but using up to date technology, bringing our offering into the 21st Century.”
Karen Jones, project manager at Investment for Growth, added: “Gordon has been a pleasure to work with – his business offering and methodology is so unique.
“Thanks to the new web platform, the business is now in a great position to work with a whole host of clients across the country and beyond, using an absolutely fascinating research and reporting technique. I wish Gordon all the best for the future and look forward to seeing the continued growth of Go Do Ltd.”
