Gosforth electrical firm helps to cut energy costs

Family-run electrical firm Ridley Bros of Gosforth has cut energy bills in half for a leading North East vehicle service workshop.

Barrack Road-based Lloyd Newcastle BMW has been fitted with new NVC Lighting Oregon LED light fittings by Ridley Bros, which has halved its energy bill outgoings in just one year, saving the automotive retailer almost £6,000 per annum.

The NVC light fittings offer a five-year guarantee, do not fade and are so efficient that 100 percent of the asset cost can be put against tax bills through the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) UK Government scheme.

Ridley Bros co-director Andrew Ridley said: “After an initial consultation, we were able to reduce energy costs and modernise the service workshop at Lloyd BMW’s by installing top-of-the-range NVC Lighting Oregon LED light fittings, allowing the business to cut its existing energy bill by 50 percent in the first year.

“Since expanding our company to offer commercial services to the region’s business community, we have experienced an increase in demand for cost-cutting technologies and hope to continue to provide businesses with essential energy-saving solutions.”

Lloyds BMW service manager Paul Bell said: “We’ve noticed a huge difference since having the NVC light fittings installed. The workshop is brighter and we no longer have the task of replacing our former metal halide lamps every so often.

“We are now able to re-invest the money saved back into staff recruitment and workshop facilities. I would strongly recommend any business, factory or service workshop that have these lamps installed to consider investing in LED lighting technology.”

In 2007, brothers Andrew and David Ridley stepped into the shoes of their father Fred Ridley and uncle Thomas Ridley, who both retired from the helm of the family business. Since then, the firm has seen year-on-year growth and continues to expand both domestic and commercial sides of the business.
