Thomson Ecology shortlisted for national award for innovation

Surrey based ecology consultancy Thomson Ecology has been shortlisted for the prestigious Construction News Awards 2015 in the category of Company Innovation of the year for their pioneering work in the field of interactive site mapping.

The Geospatial team at Thomson Ecology has developed a new type of technology which allows them swiftly to collate data during site surveys, creating real time interactive maps that clients and project teams can view online. Streamlining the process allows clients to make decisions more quickly and accurately, and makes the old system of paper mapping systems obsolete.

Tim Donoyou, Head of Geospatial at Thomson Ecology, said,

“Last year, 2014, was the culmination of a three-stage project to revolutionise the way Thomson Ecology works as a company and provides services to our clients through an innovative, data-centric approach to managing our projects. We believe this is unique to a company of our size working in the ecology field.

“We are implementing interactive mapping across all of our projects, for all our surveys and site work. A specific example is the East West Rail reinstatement between Oxford and Bedford”.

The winners will be announced at the Construction News Awards on Tuesday 30th June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
