Manchester-based Democracy wins Travis Perkins contract
Travis Perkins has appointed Democracy to handle all PR for their merchant brand as they roll out their ‘your local Timber and Builders Merchant’ positioning.
The Manchester agency was appointed following a competitive pitch and the move is an extension of Democracy’s existing relationship with the nationwide builders’ merchant group.
Democracy has already been working on a successful series of eight branch openings across the UK for Travis Perkins, engaging local communities with their On Home Turf proposition, driving footfall to branch and growing their initial proposition.
In addition, the agency has been supplying trade and consumer PR to the Travis Perkins-owned Scruffs Workwear brand for more than five years.
Now Democracy will handle press relations, supporting all parts of the business with a series of integrated campaigns to boost key trading periods and drive customer engagement.
Marketing Manager at Travis Perkins, Lucy Miller, said: “Democracy demonstrated creative ways to engage a challenging to reach audience. They also place great focus on measuring their performance.
“This, coupled with the work they have already done with us, gives us full confidence in building a successful partnership.”
Founder of Democracy, Jennifer O’Grady, said: “The building industry is on the up after several tough years and it’s a challenging and exciting time to take audience engagement to the next level.
“Our work with the Travis Perkins group to date has given us an understanding of the business that we will now look to extend into results-driven activity.”
Democracy has also carried out store opening campaigns for Sayers the Baker, Poundbakery and TJ Hughes in addition to working with Hammerson International on the opening of The Rock retail and leisure destination in Bury
Travis Perkins has been supplying the trade for more than 200 years and with 650 branches nationwide, it is one of the largest suppliers in the UK building and construction industry.
