North East SMEs to benefit from new ‘people-focused’ training package

A people-focused training package designed for North East SMEs has launched to bridge the gap between HR and wider business operations across the North East.

Newcastle human resources consultancy Hadrian HR and national training provider Antrec Limited have collaborated to develop the ‘Excellence through People’ training programme, offering access to free, expert advice sessions to any SME employee looking to understand the principles of workforce management.

After noticing a lack of realistic, business-focused HR support for small businesses, the two consultancies joined forces to create a bespoke training package open to any SME employer, from staff with little or no HR knowledge to those with pre-existing HR qualifications who are looking to take that next step.

The EU-funded training programme is delivered in two different packages, depending on the level of qualification the participants are looking to obtain; the only prerequisite is that registering companies are operating with no more than 250 staff within the region.

Delivered by HR professional and Hadrian HR director Deb Tweedy, the programme will include insight from Gordon Brown Law Firm’s employment law solicitors Jonathon Stokes and Damian Robson, who have over 40 years legal experience between them, alongside training partner Merseyside-based Antrec Limited.

Deb Tweedy, HR Director at Hadrian HR, said: “People management can place a considerable drain on SME resource and in some instances hinder growth, so it is vital companies understand how to recruit the right people at the outset and manage them effectively throughout their career”.

“Our programme is developed by experts and delivered by experts. We’re particularly excited to be able to offer the legal perspective on employment law via Gordon Brown Law Firm’s expert staff and understand this to be completely unique as an HR training offer.”

Mark Bolton, Regional Director for Merseyside-based Antrec Limited, said: “We’ve noticed an increasing realisation within the HR industry that small businesses need something more responsive and bespoke to serve their people management needs if they are to grow and prosper. This is where our unique training package fills the void.”

Mark added: “People are at the core of every business and it is imperative companies get the best out of the staff they have. The Excellence in People programme has been drafted by businesses, for businesses.

“It has intelligent business acumen behind it and we are more than confident it can offer the region’s flourishing SME community the tools it needs to drive business forward via better people management knowledge and skills.”
