North West has lowest growth in house prices in England

A report by the Office of National Statistics has shown that the North West has the lowest growth in house prices in the whole of England, at just 3.7%.

The second lowest was seen in the East Midlands at 4.1%

Excluding London and the South East, UK house prices increased by 5.9% over the year to February 2015, including London and the South East the UK average house price increased by 7.2%.

This is down from an increase of 8.4% in the year to January 2015.

Wales had the lowest growth in the UK at just 1.1% with Northern Ireland having the highest growth in prices at 14.2%.

The average mix-adjusted house price in February 2015 was £280k in England, with London continuing to be the region with the highest average house price of £490k.

The North West average mix-adjusted house price was below the English average at £175k.
