Lancashire-based Dragons' Den rejects to sign Selfridges deal proving doubters wrong

Orders, enquiries and sales have been at an all time high for Lancashire-based preserve business, Granny Cool, following its appearance on Dragon’s Den in February.

With listings already in Booths Supermarkets, Partridges, Natural Kitchen and Dean and Deluca, the company is also set to close a breakthrough deal with Selfridges..

Nikki Frith her business partner, Lindsey Oldroyd, presented their business, Granny Cool, which makes curds and marmalades, to the Dragons on 22nd February and in just three short weeks have seen orders and enquiries flooding in from Helsinki, New York and China.

“Things have been crazy since the show aired. It’s been amazing for our business, despite not getting the £50k investment we were after,” says Nikki Frith.

“Sales and orders are flooding in and we are now in four fabulous stores in Helsinki. We also sent our first order to New York last week and are in talks to work with a chain of stores in China too,” continues Nikki, who explains that Peter Jones had said the brand would only ever be regional!

The website has also received over 11,500 hits and Nikki and Lindsey have been inundated with people asking where their nearest stockist is, whilst current stockists have upped their orders.

“Appearing on Dragons’ Den has been amazing for our business. The advice the Dragons gave us has helped us make changes to our brand for the better, whilst appearing on the prime time show has given us fantastic exposure both in the UK and abroad,” adds Nikki.
