ENER-G shortlisted for Salford Business Award
ENER-G has been recognised as an outstanding employer in the 2015 Salford Business Awards.
The green energy company has been shortlisted for the Best Employer Award category, sponsored by JMC IT.
ENER-G’s global headquarters are located in Salford, where it designs and manufactures low carbon combined heat and power (CHP) systems that are exported across the globe.
Nearly half of ENER-G’s 750-strong global workforce is based in Salford and the company celebrated its 30th birthday last year.
ENER-G believes in developing ‘home-grown’ talent and runs apprentice and graduate schemes, as well as a continuous professional development and appraisal and performance review programme for all staff.
The company operates a continuous improvement and development policy, which allows all staff to request further training and development and gain professional qualifications. These policies help contribute to a low staff turnover. A number of employees are represented on professional bodies to develop standards and practice in the energy industry.
Employees are also encouraged and supported to get involved with the community, including activities to inspire young people about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). ENER-G partners with the national charity STEMNET and has three ambassadors who actively work with local schools. Staff also support a number of other local charities, such as Red Rose Forest and Mustard Tree.
Alan Barlow, Managing Director of ENER-G Combined Power Ltd, said: “We are proud to reach the finals of the prestigious Salford Business Awards. Our talented and committed people are at the heart of ENER-G’s global success and this award celebrates their contribution to our achievements and growth over the past 30 years”.
ENER-G is among a shortlist of 32 businesses across eight categories, who will compete to be crowned ultimate winners at the awards final at AJ Bell Stadium on Thursday 21 May.
The Awards are sponsored by TalkTalk Technology and jointly organised by the University of Salford, The Business Group Salford and Salford City Council. ENER-G won the coveted Business of the Year Award at the inaugural awards ceremony in 2009 and is sponsor of the Green Award category.
