Rotherham’s laundry system developer Xeros secures eco-innovation initiative funding
EU’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP) has provided funding for Rotherham’s washing system company, Xeros, as part of the Eco-innovation initiative.
Xeros is the only laundry manufacturer to have access to these funds which give considerable financial assistance to companies that choose to implement Xeros® technology.
Xeros supplies commercial laundry systems to commercial laundries, hotels, spas and gyms, and can boast that four out of the five largest global hotel chains in the US market are customers.
The company’s technology consists of water being largely replaced by unique, reusable and recyclable polymer beads, which can be used for hundreds of washes without losing any effectiveness.
Furthermore, the Xeros system uses less than 80% less water and only half as much energy and detergent whilst in the cleaning process.
If the Xeros laundry process is implemented to a typical 23kg machine, 1.5m litres of water per year can be saved. Laundries will see cost reductions of between 30 to 40% in electricity and water bills, plus lower charges for effluent production.
Tony Kerr, European sales and marketing director of Xeros, said: “This new funding means customers can purchase and benefit from Xeros’ ground-breaking technology at a reduced cost. We are already successfully installing machines that are being subsidised by the fund, presenting these customers with a fantastic opportunity to see the superior cleaning results our machines deliver.
“Managing how linens are washed is a key part of keeping them in top condition and ensuring longer fabric life. Conventional commercial laundry machines rely on harsh chemicals, high temperatures and a rough mechanical action which can wear out delicate items. Upgrading existing equipment to a Xeros system is the ideal solution for laundries, hotels and spas looking for superior cleaning quality whilst minimising costs.”
