Carlisle Old Fire Station undergoes £1m revamp to become arts venue
A fire station that was transformed into an arts venue will officially open after its £1m renovation which started in October 2014.
The building is on Carlisle’s Warwick Street, and has spaces for music, theatre and exhibitions.
It also has a cafe-bar and space for conferences.
Stephen Dunn, arts officer for Carlisle City Council, said to the BBC: “I think the million pounds is an investment. Over the next two or three years that money will be seed money.
“It’s public money and it has to be invested right and it has to come back in and that’s why the Old Fire Station has to be a business and stand on its own two feet.”
