join.me reiteration puts productivity back into meetings
The debut of a new app for Apple Watch and a major update to join.me’s iPhone app introduce join.me’s One Touch Meeting capability—a slick and simple way to start a meeting, scheduled or on-the-fly, with the simple touch of a button. And a re-envisioned join.me app for the iPad introduces the join.me Mobile Whiteboard, a fresh twist on the tried-and-true collaboration tool. The refreshed iOS portfolio is part of join.me’s unique approach to mobile-first collaboration – an experience that aims to extend and bolster collaboration rather than just duplicate the desktop on a phone or tablet.
As part of the iOS refresh, join.me’s iPad presenting capabilities – including the new Mobile Whiteboard—will now be available for free, with additional, optional upgrades available via in-app and online purchases.
All of the iPhone and iPad capabilities are available for existing join.me iOS app users via an update, or for new users via a download from the App Store.
“With join.me, we believe the real untapped potential of mobile is in its innate ability to augment and improve collaboration, not just duplicate existing experiences,” said Craig Daniel, vice president of products for join.me. “Our approach to mobile-first innovation is far more than just solving for location or a smaller form factor. It’s about how we make inherent characteristics of mobile a complementary extension to the overall experience.”
New app for Apple Watch and ‘One Touch Meetings’
Building on join.me’s simple and instant DNA, a new app for Apple Watch and the updated iPhone app introduce ‘One Touch Meeting.’ Scheduled join.me meetings will now send a push notification to a user’s iPhone or Apple Watch when it is time to meet. With a single touch on the iPhone or Apple Watch, join.me will automatically call the host—dialing them into the meeting—and start join.me’s desktop app right away[1]. No need to dial any numbers or passcodes. No need to start join.me on a laptop or desktop. As a result, join.me meetings – both audio and visual – will start in mere seconds, eliminating any set up time. Ad hoc meetings can also be triggered by simply tapping the join.me app icon for Apple Watch and iPhone.
New Mobile Whiteboard
The whiteboard is a great tool for brainstorming and collaboration. But despite years of attempted innovation around digital whiteboards, today, people are still more likely to take pictures of physical whiteboards with their smartphones and tablets to share them. join.me’s new mobile whiteboard for iPad lets people create and collaborate on and off-line, giving them the ability to create, present, save, and share ideas in real time right from iPad. With its InfinityBoard™, join.me’s new mobile whiteboard provides an infinite canvas for users to draw, add shapes, lines, and even connectors to convey ideas and collaborate with others. And unlike physical whiteboards, users don’t have to draw if they don’t want to because the join.me mobile whiteboard lets users drag and drop images from a custom icon library or add images from their own photo library. Whiteboard files can be shared as jpegs, PDFs, or in a fully editable whiteboard file format that can be sent to others so they can add their ideas.
The new join.me whiteboard is based on and incorporates the capabilities of the highly acclaimed Zamurai mobile whiteboard app, which LogMeIn acquired, as part of the newly disclosed acquisition of San Francisco-based Zamurai Corporation.
Fully integrated into join.me’s iPad app, users can create and share up to four mobile whiteboards for free. Additional whiteboards are available for join.me pro and join.me enterprise users. Free users can upgrade to pro and enterprise licenses via in-app purchase, via join.me’s website or by contacting join.me’s sales team.
“The whiteboard is part of almost every business and sales discussion, but it’s been trapped on the wall, until now,” said Michael Parker, founder of Zamurai, now vice president of join.me marketing. “With the join.me mobile whiteboard, we let you create or share that visual conversation with anyone anywhere – in the room, online or offline. It is a real game changer when people can see what you are thinking.”
“Creating and sharing information with colleagues and customers are essential actions in building successful organisations, said Alan Lepofsky, VP Constellation Research. “To do this, employees demand solutions that are powerful but easy to use, available across all of their devices, and that seamlessly integrate into the key business workflows they use to get their jobs done.”
