Manchester digital marketing agency, theEword, has signed a series of new appointments across its departments, as it looks to service new and existing client demand. The new arrivals bring the total headcount at the specialist content marketing agency to 45.

Among the new appointments are Sian English, marketing manager; Becca Boone, account manager; Rebecca White, PPC executive; while both Niamh Spence and Scott Beaman have become creative content executives. The new hires bolster the agency’s expertise across all levels of the business.

Managing director, Daniel Nolan, said: “theEword has grown consistently, both in terms of headcount and revenue since it launched.

“With a number of client wins since the start of the year and a strong pipeline of new business, we’re currently on a drive to recruit talented people that can help in continuing to deliver compelling, forward thinking digital marketing campaigns.”

Martine Catton, Catalyst Finance

Selective Invoice Finance (SIF) specialist, Catalyst Finance, has appointed Martine Catton as Catalyst Sales Director at its Manchester office.

With more than 25 years’ of specialist experience, Catton’s previous roles have included regional sales positions at Hitachi Capital and ‘challenger’ bank, Aldermore, before stepping up to head Aldermore’s Direct Sales division. Now, she will apply her contacts and expertise to driving growth in the SIF sector.

According to Catton: “I am really excited about this new role. Catalyst has been on my radar for some time. They are dynamic, professional and, while they are making the most of fintech, their customer service focuses on personal relationships which remains vital in this industry.

‘Selective Invoice Finance is transforming the invoice finance sector’s thinking and is set to be a genuine force for good in UK business. I really want to be leading that with Catalyst.“

Catton will report to Catalyst CEO, Jonathan Willder, who added: “Having Martine as part of the Catalyst team is a major coup for us and for the SIF sector as a whole. Because our SIF model is contract-free to the borrower, we are judged on the quality of every individual transaction.

“Martine clearly has confidence in both our model and the quality of our SIF product and her experience is certain to help us access an increasingly wide range of introducers and clients.”

Helen Salvin, Truth

Manchester creative agency Truth is expanding its B2B PR offering with the appointment of Helen Salvin as Account Executive.

Helen joins from Barrett Dixon Bell, where she worked across a range of B2B clients in the healthcare, packaging and processing, and engineering sectors.

As Account Executive at Truth, Helen will work on a number of B2B accounts, including construction company, Wates, regeneration building firm, LPC Living, property developer, Countryside and global logistics specialist, Allport Cargo Services.

Lisa French, managing partner of Truth PR, said of Helen’s appointment: “We are very happy to welcome Helen to the team and look forward to utilising her knowledge to enhance our B2B offering. Together with Helen’s experience and creativity, we are able to further bolster our team in preparation for a bright and successful future.”

Helen’s appointment takes the agency headcount to 19.

Katie Allen, Danbro

Danbro has appointed Katie Allen, as Group Operations Director of Danbro, two years after joining the Lytham-based accountants as a temp.

Katie took a job as temporary PA to business chiefs Helen and Damian Broughton to ‘fill in time’ ahead of a planned move to India.

Helen Broughton, co-founder of Danbro and Director of People and Standards, said: “Katie first joined us in January 2013. Her rise to Group Operations Director has been nothing short of meteoric and no less than she deserves.

“Danbro is one of the fastest growing companies in the North West. We need dynamic individuals of the calibre of Katie who are not only prepared to grow with us – but help lead the way.”

As Ops manager she managed the mobilisation of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the impressive spiralling sculpture and observation tower at the heart of the 587-acre Olympic Park for the London 2012 Games. She also oversaw the integration of a 30-office acquisition into Balfour Beatty Plant and Fleet.

MD Damian concludes: “Strengthening our management team has been our focus over recent years. If we are to remain one of the forerunners in servicing the accounting needs of the temporary workforce sector we need to prepare for the next phase of our story.”

Hugh Jones, Office of Public Guardian’s panel of court

Manchester-based Court of Protection expert Hugh Jones has secured a place on the Office of the Public Guardian’s panel of court approved deputies in a move that has seen him become one of the UK’s longest standing deputies.

After a rigorous application process which has seen a number of professional deputies lose their place on the panel, Hugh, founder of Hugh Jones Solicitors, is the only deputy in Manchester to have been reappointed.

Deputies are appointed by the Court of Protection to manage the financial affairs of individuals who are deemed to lack capacity to make such decisions themselves. Often in cases where family members can’t agree who should be the deputy or where there has been financial abuse and the family member is discharged of their duties.

Commenting on the appointment Hugh, who has be on the panel since its inception, said: “I am delighted to secure a place on the panel. It is a ten year appointment which is excellent news for the firm.

“Over the last 12 months, we have seen a 30 per cent rise in the number of professional deputyship appointments as the firm continues to cement its position of the leading independent court of protection specialist.”

Chris Graham, DSG

Chartered Accountancy firm DSG has boosted its corporate team with the appointment of an Assistant Corporate Business Manager.

The firm, which is headquartered in Liverpool and has offices in the North West and North Wales, has appointed Chris Graham, an accounts and audit specialist.

Chris has a broad range of experience specialising in the preparation of accounts and undertaking audits for owner managed businesses. He will support DSG’s corporate business managers and will be based at the firm’s Liverpool office.

Chris said: “DSG is a practice with a great reputation and a really diverse range of clients. I’m looking forward to being a part of the corporate team and getting to know and work alongside our clients to understand how we can most benefit their business operations.”
