The Education Network and the North East Partnership SCITT announce partnership
The Education Network, a Newcastle-based recruiter, has partnered with the North East Partnership SCITT to support the development and employment of the next generation of physical education (PE) teachers.
The new partnership between The Education Network and the North East Partnership SCITT (school-centred initial teacher training)will support 37 trainee PE teachers from September 2015 and help them into full time employment in local schools and schools further afield once qualified.
The North East Partnership SCITT offers training for students wishing to pursue a career in secondary PE teaching using a practical, real-world approach.
The Education Network, with 13 offices throughout the UK including Newcastle and Durham, is ideally placed to work closely with the trainees, partner schools and programme leaders throughout the training year and beyond.
The pioneering partnership will provide a range of additional support to trainees, including help with interview techniques, C.V. preparation, continued professional development, as well as identifying and aligning candidates with employment opportunities in schools across the region and further afield.
Kevin Gill, Managing Director at The Education Network, said: “We are committed to helping raise the standards of education through innovative partnerships and are therefore delighted to join forces with the North East Partnership SCITT to support the training and development of a new generation of outstanding PE teachers.
“The Education Network is much more than a recruitment company, through ongoing collaboration with our clients and the communities in which we operate, we are continually developing new ways to work together, add value and help to promote sports and healthy lifestyles in schools as well as the wider community.”
The North East Partnership is the largest PE provider in the region and one of the largest in the country. Recruitment to the course is rigorous and this along with high quality training and strong placement schools ensures that all trainees complete the course as either good or outstanding trainee teachers, with the majority being outstanding.
Helen Ostell, programme leader for the North East Partnership SCITT, added: “We firmly believe that if young people are to benefit from PE and sport they should be taught by outstanding practitioners who are passionate and knowledgeable about their subject and can engage young people through creative and innovative delivery.
“We are looking forward to working with The Education Network to ensure that our trainees are employed in schools throughout the North East and further afield.’’
