NCT partners with Team Build
NCT Skills is delighted to announce that Team Build Construction, based in Newcastle, has signed up to partner the skills training provider.
Team Build is currently working with Northumberland Council to deliver a large framework of school modifications and has employed three NCT apprentices to support them in delivering a better learning environment for local children.
Team Build Construction was established in 2003 and over the past 12 years has delivered some of the regions more intricate public and private sector projects.
NCT Skills specializes in construction apprenticeship delivery and will take on 100 new learners in August who will learn trades such as roofing, plastering, bricklaying and joinery.
NCT Skills Business Development Manager Corey Skeen said: “We’re very excited to be working with Team Build Construction. They have a reputation for delivering fantastic projects that demand high quality work as a basic requirement and it’s great that some of our learners are being exposed to such expectations at this early stage in their career.”
“With such a high intake of learners this summer we’ll be working hard to ensure that this initial venture grows into a long term agreement that allows our partners to source the very best local construction skills talent on their doorstep.”
Gary Davis, Managing Director at Team Build added: “Our people really do make us who we are here at Team Build Construction, so we select everyone carefully including apprentices. There are many contributing factors in selection that said we pay special attention to a good attitude, a keenness to learn with a general respect for others and the ability to work in a team.
“We aim to provide a supportive environment for everyone; however we pay special attention to young people. With our dedicated leaders buddied with our selected NCT apprentices they are all encouraged to apply their knowledge gained from the past 3 – 9 months on their diploma. We support and develop them through practical, on site ‘real’ work.
“We do not underestimate how challenging it can be to deliver projects on time and within budget, whilst training and supporting young people. Our team all take on responsibility to ensure the young people understand why they have been selected. We make every effort to make them feel welcome and work hard to harness their capabilities, grow their skills and give them exposure to various aspects of construction.
“The initial three young people we selected really stood out in the group session Tyler, Billy and Flynn who are all bricklayers came across very well and are already demonstrating their passion for construction as we allocated them to work at our Seaton Delaval First School site. On this site as well as learning practical techniques of bricklaying they have been exposed to the requirement of installing a gas membrane barrier and will soon see aspects of groundwork’s and landscaping.”
Apprentice Tyler Massingham said “I can’t believe how much I’ve learned on the site in only four weeks. I can’t thank my dedicated Team Build Construction supervisor enough for all his support, patience and guidance so far.”
Gary continued: “Team Build Construction would recommend NCT Skills to other contractors as well as their sub contract supply chain as we share similar values. We have been impressed with the companies programme and the quality of the apprentices to date.”
