£12.4m regenerated Middlesbrough hotel unveils new 20 strong team

The Holiday Inn Express Middlesbrough has unveiled the team of employees who will be in place for its upcoming opening.

25-year-old General Manager Mark Winter has enlisted a 20-strong team of enthusiastic individuals to work at the 138-bedroom hotel, which is just weeks away from welcoming its first customers.

The formerly abandoned Albert Road property is set to become a destination for sleeping, eating, drinking and socialising in Middlesbrough following a £12.4m regeneration project carried out by property developer Ashall Projects, assisted by Middlesbrough Council.

A mixture of positions have been created at the hotel, bar and restaurant, including roles in the front of house, housekeeping, waiting and maintenance teams.

The UK’s largest independent hotel management company, Redefine|BDL Hotels, which currently manages 70 properties across the UK, will operate the hotel and was responsible for hiring the new team.

Mark said: “I believe we have recruited the best team that Middlesbrough has to offer to run this internationally-branded hotel.

“We have found a great mixture of enthusiasm and experience to build a hotel that both guests and local residents alike will love and that can compete with any other venue in the area.

“I’m very proud to be able to bring this team together as one of the final stages in what has been an extremely successful regeneration led by Ashall Projects and the local council.”

Deputy General Manager Sian Bell and Sales Manager Paul Weild will work under Mark when the hotel opens on 13 August.

Paul Crockett, Adele Cairns, Susan Head and Nick Mongan were appointed as Guest Services Managers, while Damian Evans and Kate Thompson have been appointed to the role of Guest Service Supervisors.

Caleb Thompson, Jonathan Hayes, Robyn Newby, Kirsty McCathie, Katy Saunders, Tracy Sadler, Katy Heaney, Kerry Brown and Lewis Oakden have all been recruited as Guest Service Assistants.

The team was completed with the appointment of Corinne Hynes as Reservations Assistant and Mark Wright as Maintenance Assistant.

The team was assembled following a recruitment fair in partnership with Middlesbrough Council, which was held at Middlesbrough town hall in June.
