Labels printed by Springfield Solutions as the company forecasts another record-breaking year.

Hull’s Springfield printers set for record-breaking year

Springfield Solutions, a Yorkshire digital printer, is on course for another record breaking year.

The label and packaging specialists, based on Thomas Street, Hull, printed almost 65 million labels by June 30, putting them on track to print 130 million labels by the end of the year.

This figure marks a 5% increase compared to last years’ performance, which saw the firm reach the 100 million markfor the first time in the company’s 40-year history.

Springfield Solutions has seen a 21% increase in printing jobs, with nearly 16,000 completed this year and more than 4.3 million metres of labels printed in the first six months of 2015.

The company has also experienced a year on year increase since converting to an all-digital print room three years ago, offering clients greater flexibility, quicker turnaround and consistency.

Dennis Ebeltoft, the joint managing director, said: “To have printed 65 million labels so far this year is a fantastic achievement. We have built on the success of last year and we’re on track to beat our record.

“We were among the earliest adopters of digital in the industry, buying our first digital press in 1996, and investing £750,000 to transform the print room to all digital in 2012.

“As a result we’ve seen an increase in demand because digital enables our clients more flexibility and they are starting to understand how they can use this to their advantage.”

Earlier this year, Springfield Solutions increased their range of self-adhesive labels with the flexible peel-back label REVEALABEL.

Mr Ebeltoft also commented on how demand for labels has been supplemented by recent changes to EU regulations on label information.

He said: “Changes to label regulations meant brands had to reprint with a lot more information included. In February we launched our innovative piggyback style label, REVEALABEL, giving brands a solution to the changes without having to compromise on design.”
