GAS stage first phase of recruitment drive to bring 100 new jobs to the North East
Great Annual Savings Group (GAS), the North East cost management firm, has completed the first phase of a targeted recruitment drive that will create more than 100 jobs.
Phase one has seen GAS almost double its workforce in Seaham to around 45 staff. The new recruits include business solutions managers, administrators, support staff and customer service representatives.
The move is part of an ambitious growth strategy by GAS to build a 150-strong team of staff who can help the firm expand its geographical footprint beyond the North East. Phase two of the recruitment drive will begin immediately, with roles available for other talented Business Solutions Managers who will look after the company’s growing portfolio of clients. Other management and administration positions will also be created in time.
Bradley Groves, Chief Executive and Chairman of Great Annual Savings Group, said: “We have exciting plans in the pipeline but we need talented, well-qualified staff on board if we are to achieve our goals. Our focus is to recruit quality people who can play a major role in shaping our future success story.
“We’re pleased that we’ve been able to hire some excellent new talent so far but this is only the first step of a long and exciting journey for us.”
As well as creating jobs within the company, GAS has also provided regular work for several local businesses since relocating to the Spectrum Business Park in June. The firm has employed the services of valeting firm 3D Valets, catering specialist Delicious and cleaning expert Sparkles to further boost the regeneration of Seaham, with these companies taking on additional staff as a result of the extra work.
Mr Groves said: “We are committed to using local suppliers wherever possible. Parts of Wearside and East Durham have traditionally suffered from high unemployment so it’s vital that businesses in the area help to address the issue by creating work and job opportunities for other local people and businesses.”
Mr Groves launched GAS in 2012 to help businesses reduce their variable costs and save money in a range of areas including energy procurement, energy and water cost management, fire safety, telecoms and insurance. Previously he was a board member of Caudwell Group and helped build the telecommunications giant into a high-growth business and a major global employer. He also held a senior board level role at Blacks Leisure Group PLC.
