Teesside tech startup smashes first year targets

Technologyy company bSoftware Solutions, founded by a Teesside University graduate, has reported a strong first year in business.

The firm has more than doubled its expected revenue in 2015 and, if it continues to grow at the current rate, is likely to hit its 2017 growth targets by the end of the year.

The company was founded by Shaun Brereton, a BSc (Hons) Computer Programming graduate, and last year moved into Teesside University’s business incubator at the Victoria Building in Middlesbrough.

Since then it has picked up 18 new clients which include a luxury watch dealer, an Indian food home delivery service and a manufacturer of running equipment.

bSoftware Solutions offers website design, software development and digital marketing solutions to companies.

Shaun said: “The business started after I wrote a piece of software for repair companies to enable them to manage their repairs effectively.

“But since then it’s expanded to include digital marketing as well. We can offer strategic consultancy to our clients to help them increase their traffic and conversion rate.”

Shaun’s clients have also reported a positive impact on their business after working with bSoftware Solutions.

Feetus, a UK supplier of barefoot running equipment, commissioned bSoftware Solutions to carry out its online marketing. Director Lee Firman was particularly impressed with how the company carried out successful search engine optimisation (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns.

Feetus saw significantly increased return on investment with a much reduced advertising spend with average conversions going up by 223%.

Lee said: “After just two months of using bSoftware Solutions, web traffic and sales have increased significantly.

“Feetus has not only reaped the benefits of increased revenue, enhanced profit margins, and a larger customer base, but as an individual I feel the staff at bSoftware Solutions have really enhanced my knowledge in SEO and PPC.”

Laura Woods, Director of The Forge, Teesside University’s business hub, said: “It is fantastic to see bSoftware Solutions go from strength to strength. The company is having a major impact on its clients’ sales and we are delighted to have played a part in its success.”
