FabLab Sunderland is looking for a manager!
FabLab Sunderland combines a workspace, community maker-space and learning zone – encouraging artists, inventors, students and businesses to collaborate, exchange ideas and make things. Linked to a global network of 500 other FabLabs across the world it’s a place where anyone can make (almost) anything using industrial-grade digital fabrication and electronics tools, wrapped in open source software and programs written by researchers at MIT.
The FabLab is brimming with opportunities for learning and innovation and the FabLab Manager will play an important part in bringing individuals, communities and businesses together. It can be used for education, technological empowerment, skills and technical training, team building, individual projects, problem solving, grass roots research, high tech business incubation or to turbocharge your prototype to market to name but a few! In fact the possibilities are endless.
You need to be an ideas person, full of energy, and able to connect opportunities to make wonderful things happen in the FabLab. It will be fast paced and you will have to reach and inspire a diverse range of audiences to ensure that the FabLab reaches its full economic and social potential. You will be running one of many enterprise units within the University of Sunderland; you will need to relish a challenge and have plenty of commercial acumen to ensure it meets its business goals, targets and budgets.
If you hold the skills and experience we are looking for we’d love to hear from you. Check out www.fablabsunderland.org or @FabLabSund for more information. For details on how to apply go to https://jobs.sunderland.ac.uk/vacancy.
The deadline for applications is the 30th of September. Interviews will take place on the 21st and 22nd October.
