Lawyer shortlisted for prestigious Women in Business award
An upcoming Shoreditch-based lawyer has been shortlisted for a prestigious ‘Women in Business’ award.
Rashmi Dubé a successful lawyer, mediator and business mentor and the founder of Shoreditch-based Legatus Law, has been recognised in the Forward Ladies’ London and South Women in Business Awards in the SME Business of the Year (emerging – less than 10 employees) category.
The award nomination is in recognition of Rashmi’s work to rapidly expand Legatus Law in both Shoreditch and London, following setting up the business in Leeds in 2013.
Legatus Law specialises in dispute resolution, with a particular focus on digital companies that are expanding, and offers services specifically tailored for SMEs. The firm’s expansion in Shoreditch will also focus on advising emerging digital agencies on contracts, with particular reference to outside investment.
Rashmi has worked for a number of leading UK law firms during her 20 year career and is an expert in helping businesses in resolving disputes, tightening their trading terms and contracts, recovering debt and working to protect their assets.
Speaking about the award nomination Rashmi said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for this award and for my hard work, and the work of the team, to have been recognised by leading entrepreneurs and business personalities.
“Since launching Legatus Law the business has gone from strength to strength. We’re really excited to be offering advice to emerging digital agencies in Shoreditch and look forward to helping them grow.”
Now in its sixth year, the Forward Ladies’ Awards scheme acknowledges females in business – from start-ups to multi-million pound companies. The London and Southern regional final will feature 26 entrepreneurial women in total who will compete across eight categories.
Sponsored by HSBC, the finals promise to be one of the most closely-run in the award scheme’s history. The outstanding business woman for the region will be chosen from all category winners, with the announcement made at an awards luncheon. Hosted by journalist and television presenter Christa Ackroyd, at The Thistle Marble Arch in London on 16 October.
The national winners will then be announced at a glittering awards luncheon final on 20 November in Leeds at the Queens Hotel.
This year’s judging panel was made up of leading business personalities and entrepreneurs. Karen Boswell, Managing Director of Hitachi Rail and Chair of the judging panel, said judging was a difficult process:
“The standard of entries for this year’s Women in Business Awards was outstanding which made selecting the shortlist extremely difficult. This is a testament to the high quality of our female business leaders across the regions who are helping the region’s economy grow.
“We look forward to bringing the best of these together for the regional awards ceremony where we will announce our winners.”
