Huddersfield online retailer launches new e-commerce site following 8000% revenue growth
Online furniture Furniture Choice has marked 10 years of trading with the launch of new e-commerce offering.
The Huddersfield-based business has reported significant growth throughout over the last decade, with its revenue increasing from £120k in year one to more than £10m at the end of this financial year.
Launched in 2005, Furniture Choice was initially based in a 5,000 sq ft warehouse with only one employee. 10 years alter, and the company now has a global footprint of 150,000 sq ft, spanning two warehouses, offices in the UK and Asia, a showroom and a staff of 40 employees.
In its first year, visits to the Furniture Choice e-commerce site hit 30,000 and increased year-on-year to two million at the end of its tenth year. The new website was developed by an in-house team of digital experts with an aim of achieving greater revenue figures.
Tom Obbard, director at Furniture Choice, said: “We’re immensely proud to have grown so much, while still keeping our family-orientated structure and commitment to both quality and value in equal measure.
“Starting with an initial investment of just £10,000, we have developed the business from the ground up and are now turning over more than £10 million a year.
“The first decade of trading is a huge milestone for us and shows that our continued efforts to provide excellent service are really paying off. In celebration of our tenth year, we decided to give our website an overhaul and hope that our new offering continues to provide the same great service our customers expect.”
In its first year of trading, Furniture Choice sold 4,000 dining chairs, but in its tenth year, the retailer sold 70,000.
Sales numbers have also increased, with bed sales rising by 500%, mattresses by 6,000% and dining tables by a staggering 15,000%. Furniture Choice has also added thousands of popular new products to its catalogue, taking its total product portfolio to more than 8,000 items.
