New September exam helps ACCA students

The first ever September exam sessions run by ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) have resulted in success for more than 1,850 students who took the opportunity to complete their final papers and take a major step towards becoming finance professionals.

There was more good news for an additional 1,844 students who completed the Fundamental Skills exams at this session and are now able to move onto the Professional Level exams

More than 40,000 students took the opportunity to sit or resit ACCA examinations which were available in 15 countries: China; Ghana; Ireland; Kazakhstan; Kenya; Malaysia; Mauritius; Nepal; Nigeria; Romania; Uganda; UK; Vietnam; Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Given the success of the session, from next year ACCA will be running exams in March, June, September and December in all 162 countries where it usually offers exam sittings, with March 2016 being the first additional session available to all ACCA students.

Mary Bishop, ACCA’s Director of Learning, said: “We are delighted with the response to the additional exam sittings. We had forecast that 30,000 students would register, but more than 40,000 in 15 countries took the opportunity to use the additional session to focus on specific exam papers, with many opting for one paper only.

“The number of new affiliates also exceeded expectations, with 1,851 succeeding in their final papers and 1,844 students completing the Fundamental Skills exams, enabling them to move on to the Professional Level, which is very also good news and will hopefully accelerate their journey to becoming qualified finance professionals.

“Judging from the overwhelmingly positive response from the markets where the exams were initially offered, the move to four sessions a year will prove extremely popular with our students and with employers, who have told us they welcome the flexibility that the additional sessions will bring. We look forward to working with tuition providers, employers and students to ensure that they can all take full advantage of the new opportunities available as a result of the new sessions.”

Pass rates for the September exams were in line with previous sessions. There were no papers available for on demand exams (F1 to F4 and Foundation level) and these will be reported on six monthly.
