Oldham manufacturer James Briggs reports triple-figure growth
James Briggs, the Oldham-based manufacturer of aerosol products and consumer chemicals, has reported year-on-year growth of 112% in its own-brand product business.
The firm, which last month entered the Irish automotive market after signing a new distribution deal, enjoyed both organic and acquisitional growth between July and September, during which time it acquired cleaning product company Premiere Products.
Organic growth accounted for almost half (45%) of the overall figure and was driven by sales of the firm’s newly rebranded automotive paint Hycote, as well as its Nilco cleaning range.
The Nilco brand recorded an increase of 112% to match James Briggs’ overall growth, after the firm expanded its client base by signing a nationwide supply agreement with home improvement retailer B&Q.
Max Bass, James Briggs’ commercial director, commented: “We are seeing the continual fruition of that investment having developed our sales and marketing structure, as well as upgrading our infrastructure, manufacturing and IT.
“While the purchase of Premiere Products will undoubtedly be a major growth driver in the future, we’re equally extremely pleased to see our existing brands thriving to push the business forward.”
He added: “This core growth is reward for the conditions put in place to improve our branded offering and we expect to see this success continue into our second quarter.”
