International travel risk management firm tracking business from Flintshire operations base thanks to Business Wales support

An ambitious security firm helping hauliers protect their assets in Calais is thriving thanks to help and support from Business Wales.

Set up by former Royal Marine commando Nathan Monshin, Flint-based S.I. Risk helps businesses protect their assets in difficult and dangerous working environments at home and abroad.

Despite only being founded in December last year, S.I. Risk has already worked for a Middle Eastern royal family and a London borough council. With help from Business Wales, it is now tendering for security contracts with the United Nations.

S.I. Risk offers a range of security services, such as cyber security solutions to workers in countries where data mining is prevalent, and asset tracking services to keep employees in challenging working environments secure.

The company’s clients include businesses operating in complex and dangerous working environments such as the Middle East and South America, as well as in Calais, offering security advice to haulage companies.

Despite only opening nine months ago, S.I. Risk has already built an impressive base of clients thanks to assistance from the Welsh Government’s business support service, which also guided the company in opening an operations base in Flint.

Nathan said the support provided by Business Wales had been invaluable in assisting with S.I. Risk’s early success.

Nathan said: “I was originally asked to put together a travel risk management service for a national UK company. It took about eight months of hard work to become fully formed, and I realised there was no reason why I couldn’t set up a similar business of my own.

“I was looking for advice on ways of accessing funding, and a contact told me about Business Wales, which has been absolutely invaluable in setting S.I. Risk up.

“They’ve been absolutely fantastic in everything I’ve approached them about, from helping us find an office for our operations room in Flint to support towards the ISO 31000 accreditation.

“I’ve since spoken to contacts in England that are really jealous that we’ve had a resource like Business Wales to tap in to.

“Business Wales has been with me every step of the way, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The support has been absolutely superb.”

All Business Wales services are free and delivered bilingually from offices in Bangor, St Asaph, Holywell and Wrexham.

Business Wales is funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government. To find out how Business Wales can help start or grow your business, call 03000 6 03000, follow @_businesswales or visit www.business.wales.gov.uk or www.busnes.cymru.gov.uk for further information.
