LATAM TechLink launches for high-growth tech businesses
A group of professional services businesses on opposite sides of the Atlantic are combining forces to help tech companies tap into the sizeable potential for growth in the UK and South America markets.
The bridge, which has won the support of London & Partners, Boris Johnson’s official promotional company for the Capital, has been set up to enable UK firms to benefit from the potential offered by the giant tech-hungry South American marketplace and, conversely, help Latin American businesses build a London launch platform as part of European expansion plans.
Gordon Innes, CEO of London Partners said: “With recent figures showing record levels of investment into the tech sector and access to more developer talent than any other European city, London has cemented its status as a world-leading tech hub. When you combine this with the capital’s great international transport links and favourable time zone, London is an ideal destination for Latin American tech companies looking to expand into Europe and other global markets. As Latin America’s economy continues to develop we look forward to helping the next wave of high growth tech companies use London as their global springboard.”
The ‘LATAM TechLink’ initiative, which is being led by two leading reputation management agencies, Six Degrees in the UK and GrupoCASA in Brazil, is offering a one-stop shop that combines expertise in communication, law and financial affairs to support tech start-ups in their third phase of investment to grow.
The announcement comes at a time when the Latin American region is witnessing the fastest growth of internet usage anywhere in the world and, with more than 300 million early adopters of apps and mobile solutions in Brazil alone, presents a very attractive target market for UK and other European businesses looking to scale rapidly.
At the same time, the UK is maintaining its status as Europe’s leading tech hub, with London having witnessed more tech investments than Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, Dublin and Madrid combined over the last year.
“London is a hotbed of talent, innovation and tech investment and the perfect springboard for Latin American businesses wanting to expand in Europe,” said Jennifer Janson, Managing Director of Six Degrees. “Tech firms in countries like Brazil have seen massive internal growth, but many have plateaued. Many are now looking for new markets to expand with Europe seen as their perfect next-step environment. We created LATAM TechLink to help them take that step.”
“We are delighted to be working with our partners in the UK, which includes one of the leading independent reputation management agencies, Six Degrees, and a leading international law firm, Noronha Advogados,” says Sandra Sinicco, CEO of GrupoCASA. “We are united in our desire to help high-growth tech businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. This is a huge opportunity for Latin American start-ups to have support as they expand their businesses, while suffering a tremendous crisis in our countries. To increase a global presence in these two vitally important marketplaces, it can be done in an easier and more cost effective way by using the support of a ring of enterprises including Impact Social (trends, topics and strategic information) and Trade Horizons (that develops new businesses in the UK).”
According to Durval de Noronha, senior partner of Noronha Advogados, they “are delighted with the opportunity to work with Six Degrees and GrupoCASA in this initiative, assisting technology companies doing business in Brazil. We understand Brazil and we understand British companies who want to do business there, as we had a presence in London for the last 27 years, during which time we have been supporting and advising companies interested in the Brazilian market.”
