This week’s Yorkshire appointments
KPMG Enterprise has appointed Anthony Barrett to work alongside Partner Ian Beaumont in developing the firm’s relationships with Yorkshire’s mid-market businesses.
Anthony joins KPMG for the newly created role, from Ogden Energy Group where he was Chief Executive of the renewable energy group. Prior to this he worked in the mining sector in America after a decade as a corporate financier here in Yorkshire. Anthony returns to KPMG having completed his accountancy training contract with the firm.

Nick McTague, J Pullan and Sons
J Pullan and Sons, the Leeds property company, has strengthened its team with the appointment of Nick McTague.
Nick has worked in the Yorkshire commercial property market for the past eight years. He started his career with Edward Symmons LLP in Leeds in 2007, before moving to DTZ in 2014, where he specialised in both industrial and office agency.
He joins Pullan’s as an asset manager and surveyor.
He commented: “The opportunity to join a property company with the reputation and heritage as Pullan’s, especially at a time when the market is showing strong signs of recovery, was a chance too good to miss.
“The company owns a diverse portfolio, which includes iconic Leeds city centre office buildings, such as Joseph’s Well, Apsley House and Brotherton House and there’s also a number of exciting projects in the development pipeline, in which I’m really looking forward to playing a part.”

Cheryl Gledhill, 360 Chartered Accountants
Hull and East Yorkshire-based 360 Chartered Accountants has announced the appointment of its first ever Practice Manager.
Cheryl Gledhill has spent the last 30 years working for a high growth accountancy firm in Selby and York and will be responsible for all HR, financial and property matters.
Andy Steele, Director of 360 Chartered Accountants, said:
“We have very ambitious plans for growth and Cheryl has been through that process with her previous firm. She will ensure our back office systems remain compliant, efficient and streamlined. “

Laura Brelsford, Henderson Insurance Brokers Ltd
Henderson Insurance Brokers Ltd (HIBL) has appointed Laura Brelsford as the new claims manager.
Ms Brelsford has joined the Hessle office in East Yorkshire after seven years in the role with Aviva, where she managed commercial and household property claims.
Chris Harvey, associate director, said: “Laura has a fantastic level of experience and will provide good leadership and management skills for our expert team.
“Clearly, it is important to be organised when looking after policy renewals, but customers need us most of all when making a claim. Having in-house claims handlers is something that sets us apart from the competition.”
Ms Brelsford will lead a team working across a range of general insurance, including business, motoring and property.
Ms Brelsford’s appointment comes as the Hessle office looks to build on increased revenues, premium placements and business activity. It opened in 2004 and is now placing more than £10m worth of premiums annually.
Paul Brown, RE:Group (UK) Ltd
A specialist with 30 years’ chemicals and fuel industry experience has joined RE:Group (UK) Ltd as it continues to develop its industrial fuel oils division.
Paul Brown is the Hull-based company’s new industrial fuel sales manager and joins after ten years as a waste management broker and solvent sales representative.
RE:Group, which has extensive experience in waste oil management and hydrocarbon recovery, currently handles more than 50 million litres of marine and industrial oil each year and sells specialist fuels to sectors such as brewing, food production, aggregates and abattoirs.
Phil Evans, RE:Group’s commercial director, said: “Paul has a wealth of relevant experience and has worked with a wide range of industries across Yorkshire, Lancashire and around the UK for many years.
“He has been brought on board to help us with the growth of our fuel oils business for a range of industries that are heavy users of heating oil.”
Mr Brown began his career working in the stores of a chemicals company in Castleford, where he still lives. He then moved into the recycling industry working for several blue chip companies.
RE:Group, which was established in 1996, now has three sites in Hull, including its new head office, and a collection site in North Lincolnshire.
Michael Griffiths, SHS Integrated Services
SHS Integrated Services, a provider of high-specification industrial scaffolding to highly regulated environments, has appointed a new regional director to its Doncaster office.
Michael Griffiths will now be responsible for strengthening SHS’s relationships with existing clients and driving new business leads in the industrial, construction, civil and rail sectors across the north.
Prior to joining SHS, Mr Griffiths spent seven years working at Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, starting as a draughtsman and progressing to become a team leader, where he was responsible for the design, feasibility and planning of contracts ranging from £10k to £2.5m.
Mr Griffiths joined SHS in 2013 as part of the acquisition of Dixon Pentland Scaffolding, where he had worked since 2007, and has spent the 18 months working as a commercial manager with SHS, before being promoted into this newly created position.
Gavin Payne, chief executive officer of SHS, said: “Appointing Michael to the position of regional director is an important part of our long term strategy and strengthens our existing management team in the north east.
“Michael is an exceptionally dedicated and technically gifted person and will bring invaluable skills to the company. I am certain that his extensive experience and industry knowledge will have a big impact in delivering growth while nurturing existing client relationships in the region.
