Manchester City owner launches Singaporean subsidiary
City Football Group (CFG), the holding company responsible for Manchester City FC, has established a new wholly owned subsidiary to strengthen the group’s presence in South East Asia.
The new company, called City Football Singapore, forms part of CFG’s commercial arm City Football Marketing and will be led by director Damian Willoughby.
City Football Singapore will work closely with a number of the club’s international partners, including tyre manufacturer Nexen Tire and beer company Singha, which signed deals with Man City in August and September respectively.
City Football Group’s commercial director, Omar Berrada, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of City Football Singapore, which consolidates our commercial presence in South East Asia.
“Football continues to grow across the region and attract fantastic and passionate support. We saw this first-hand when Manchester City played in Vietnam in pre-season.”
He continued: “We have been working with well-loved brands across the region for some time.
“City Football Singapore gives us a permanent home from which we can work with our partners to manage and activate those relationships, as well as helping us to continue to expand.”
City Football Group, which is owned by private equity company Abu Dhabi United Group, is headquartered in Manchester.
