Omlis Wins Innovator of the Year 2015

Leading mobile security technology company Omlis was named Dynamite ‘Innovator of the Year’ at Dynamites 15. The award, sponsored by BT, recognized innovative IT and Technology businesses based in the UK but outside London, and more specifically in the North East of England. Omlis, founded by Newcastle born entrepreneur Markus Milsted, was recognized as an organization that had developed encryption technologies with immense potential to dramatically impact the global marketplace, changing the way we live and work. After impressing the judging panel represented by world class organizations including Ubisoft, Sage and BT, the prestigious award was presented to Mr. Milsted by Stuart Lynn, Executive Vice President (Europe), Product Delivery at Sage.

From their headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne, Omlis has pioneered a high integrity approach to developing fault tolerant encryption specifically for the mobile channel. The core encryption technology enables the completely secure exchange of sensitive information to and from mobile devices over untrusted networks. This novel approach to the encryption development process removes any opportunity for unauthorized data access or leakage, whether accidental or intentional, providing data owners, managers and hosts with a completely secure, end-to-end, device upward encryption.

To date, the ambitious start-up is still in an intensive growth phase and this shows no signs of slowing down. Since January 2015, Omlis increased its full-time workforce by 30%, secured ten partnership agreements including IBM, achieved their IS0 9001:2008 certification as well as launching their downloadable Omlis Secure Enterprise Messenger (OSEM) encryption technology to the IBM Marketplace in September 2015. Their recognition as ‘Innovator of the Year 2015’ caps of a remarkable year for Omlis.

Dynamites 15, now in its second year, is the only IT and Technology award in the North East of England and is managed by Dynamo. The initiative is made up of IT employers and organizations, technology hubs and incubators, local government and education providers all driven to build the IT community outside London and more specifically in the North East region.
