BBC antiques show to film at The Platform in Morecambe
Morecambe’s tourism is set for a boost later this month as Flog It, the BBC One antiques programme, comes to The Platform entertainment venue
The show, led by TV presenter Paul Martin and regularly viewed by an audience of two million in its weekday afternoon slot, will be hosted on November 22 at The Platform on Marine Road West.
Lancaster City Council’s Cabinet member for tourism and leisure, Cllr Darren Clifford, said: “Opportunities such as this which put our district in the national TV spotlight are both welcomed and encouraged by the council.
“I am sure Morecambe’s former railway station building will provide the perfect backdrop for this popular series and uncover some real treasures which celebrate the town’s heritage.”
The BBC has said it plans to broadcast the four episodes filmed at The Platform within the next 12 months.
The programme’s location manager, Alex Habgood, commented: “Paul Martin and the entire Flog It team are really pleased to be bringing the show to Morecambe.
“I’m sure the Platform will provide the perfect setting for our valuation day; our experts are all looking forward to welcoming people along for their free valuations in such important historic building.”
Presenter Paul Martin, meanwhile, said he is “delighted” to be bringing Flog It back to Morecambe, where it last filmed in 2012.
He said: “I’m looking forward to coming back and and hopefully to revealing some more of the area’s fascinating history to our viewers. I hope as many people as possible will come along to see us with their items for valuation.”
