Tricks To Save Your Phone’s Battery
Modern smartphone pack a lot of features in. High resolutions screens, powerful processors and huge memory are the most attractive of them. But with each additional feature, batteries of phones have much to do. In most cases, phone’s battery drains by the end of the day. And if someone wants more battery bars, power bank is a must have accessory.
Most smart devices come either with Lithium ion battery or with Lithium Poly battery. But they both require frequent recharging and battery do not also have long term life.
Often time users need to replace battery but there are some tricks that in prolonging the lifecycle of battery
1) Keep the battery cool
Exposing a phone to high temperature can be stressful for its phone. According to Battery University, battery dwelling above 30°C (86°F) is considered elevated temperature and it will decrease the battery lifecycle. Keep the device cool by not exposing it the sun light. Battery University has tested that battery may drop 60 percent of capacity when expose to 60-degree temperature for three months. So for this reason don’t put the device in direct sun light like on the dashboard of the car.
2) Use paid apps instead of free ones
For monetizing, free apps depend on showing ads. But while showing ads, device requires a lot of processing power. And the more a process runs, the more it consumes battery power. A study of US-based researchers revealed that ad-supported apps reduce the battery power by 2.5 to 2.1 hours on average. This does not happen with paid apps because they don’t show up ads.
3) Turn off Location Tracking
A recent report revealed that Facebook’s iOS app drains battery of iPhone devices by constantly tracking the location. Although, the issue has been fixed now but users can get rid of battery drain caused by location tracking by turning off location tracking for apps that do not need to know your location.
4) Don’t fully charge / discharge the battery
Charging phone’s battery to 100% and then using it to 0% is not a good idea. Instead charge and let it be discharged between ranges of 80 and 30. Do not let get discharged below 30 and do not charge it above 80. It can increase the number of discharge cycles by three times.
5) Turn down display brightness
A big portion of battery power is used by display so it’s drained too. But by putting display brightness to lowest, battery can really serve all through the day. In most devices it is easy to change the brightness. Also there are many apps available reduce brightness and change the color cast of screen.
6) Turn on low power mode
New devices generally come with battery saver mode which automatically kicks in when battery goes to particular limit. Once triggered, it keeps killing background apps, app refreshes, syncing and location tracking to save battery life. Android 5.0 or later comes with battery save mode. iOS9 powered iPhone have Low Power Mode that cuts down on background refreshes, visual effects, and automatic downloads.
8) Discover flight mode
The more a cellular tower distances from your phone, the quicker battery of device drains. In place where singles are either low or not available, device keeps trying connect the network. In result it quickly loses battery. You can save your device in this situation by switching Flight or Airplane mode.
