Echo Arena complex to plough £9.4m into Liverpool economy following deal hat-trick

The Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) Liverpool is set to deliver £9.4m for the city’s economy after the venue secured a trio of global conferences that will bring 6,000 delegates to the area.

The ACC, which includes the Echo Arena, BT Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre Liverpool, will host both Global Greens and the International Conference on Pseudomonas in 2017, followed by a European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) event in 2020.

ACC Liverpool’s director of conference and exhibition sales, Kerrin MacPhie, said: “We are delighted to confirm this series of international conferences, which in total will bring around 6,000 delegates to Liverpool.

“Each win comes as a result of the extensive research carried out by our international bid team and the relationships with our clients. It’s fair to say we are competing against global venues and destinations.”

She added: “Global Greens is also an example of how hosting a successful national event, as we did this year, can lead to securing an international congress at a later date.”

The chair of ESPE’s organising committee, Prof. Mehul T Dattani, said the 2020 event expects to be attended by over 4,000 people.

He said: “The venue is usually selected by the membership of the society and, this year, the organisation was impressed by the bid submitted by ACC Liverpool and voted for the venue with a clear majority.

“We are confident that our delegates will enjoy their stay in such a vibrant and cosmopolitan city that has a great cultural heritage.”

This week, ACC Liverpool is exhibiting at the ibtm world show held in Barcelona.
