Christmas cheer helps entrepreneurial brothers launch new custom print company
A Leeds Beckett University student has partnered with his brother to launch a new design company in time for Christmas, specialising in custom word art and prints.
The brothers who have founded Wise Old Owl Design (WOO) are Josh Luter, a final year student of BA (Hons) Marketing and Advertising Management at Leeds Beckett University, and Thom Luter, a former Leeds Beckett student of BSc (Hons) Music and New Media Technologies.
The idea of the design business first surfaced when Josh and Thom were trying to decide what to get their mother for Christmas.
Josh explained: “We wanted something personalised, something illustrated, some kind of ornament, and we couldn’t find anything so we made our own.
“Thom and I have always been close as brothers and have always said we wanted to try something together and give a business a go. We are surrounded by success stories and we thought, why couldn’t this be us? We inspired each other to do well and succeed.”
Thom currently works for a property company as Head of Creative Design, whilst Josh continues his studies.
Josh continued: “My course has been great. Marketing is something I am fully involved in each and every day with WOO; and to apply some of the theory to my own business is great.
“In studying marketing it has educated me on how to promote, advertise and much much more and, even though we are only just starting out, I feel that my degree will have a big part to play in the success of Wise Old Owl Design.”
The entrepreneurial duo have also just released a new range of prints for their business, which are based around the UK’s top 10 dog breeds.
