Apigee to support UK Government G-Cloud programme
Apigee, developer of an intelligent API platform for digital business, announced today that it has been accepted onto G-Cloud 7, an initiative aimed to ease public sector procurement services by the UK Government Procurement Service, an executive agency of the Cabinet Office.
As part of the G-Cloud 7 framework, Apigee may now supply its API management software-as-a service (SaaS) solution across the whole of the UK public sector. This will enable Apigee to play a role in supporting the UK Government’s drive to transform public sector IT and deliver modern, efficient and effective services.
Denis Dorval, vice president EMEA, Apigee said: “Our selection for the G-Cloud Programme is a validation of Apigee as a leading API management SaaS solution. Regardless of industry, every business needs to change the way it interacts with customers and partners in today’s digital world – and for the public sector, this is no different. With UK Government recognising the importance of a ‘Cloud First’ approach to IT, we look forward to helping public sector organisations innovate, increase efficiencies, improve customer service and lower costs with our API management platform built to accelerate digital business.”
The G-Cloud 7 framework enables UK Government departments to work with suppliers who provide cloud-based services. G-Cloud services are divided into four lots which are available for public sector bodies to search for in the Government’s Digital Marketplace:
- Infrastructure as a Service – provision of fundamental computing services for the user to run arbitrary software
- Platform as a Service – provision of platform services to enable a user to deploy user-built or acquired applications
- Software as a Service – provision of the provider’s application as a cloud service
- Specialist Cloud Services – consultancy in the cloud domain
