Revolutionary Fundraising Platform Engages Rum Doodle PR
Newcastle-based marketing consultancy Rum Doodle PR has been appointed to spearhead the rollout of Storm, a new online fundraising tool that is already being used by the NSPCC and Prince Harry’s Wellchild charity.
Rum Doodle PR will work to recruit charities to the Storm platform, which offers a branded search engine that enables users to donate money to their chosen cause every time they shop online. So far over 111,000 retailers have been signed up as partners for the Storm platform, which can generate donations of at least £25 per year for each active user.
“I’ve used online fundraising platforms in the past, but many of them don’t offer the proactive support that charities need to turn them into a worthwhile revenue stream,” said Rob Lawson, MD of Rum Doodle PR. “Not only does Storm offer more retail partners than any rival, it also supports its charity partners throughout the process from signup to launch and promotion.”
One of the latest charities to sign up to Storm is Show Racism the Red Card, which uses the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society. Like all Storm partners, the charity now has its own branded search engine that supporters can use every time they shop online, as well as for any other web search requirements.
“Like most charities we’ve had mixed experiences with online fundraising tools in the past, but we were very impressed by the Storm platform and the support that’s in place to help make the partnership work,” said James Kingett, Campaign Worker at Show Racism the Red Card. “I’m also a big fan of the simple widget that shows the user exactly how much they’ve raised for us by using Storm.”
When a user searches for an item or service using the Storm platform, they are shown sites that will donate money to their chosen charity when they make the purchase. This might range from a few pence to much more on larger purchases, such as car insurance or a TV.
“It’s great to be teaming up with Rum Doodle PR as we build momentum in the rollout of the Storm platform, adding to our list of charity partners and boosting the profile of the brand,” said Sam Tilston, CEO of Storm. “We’ve worked long and hard to create a branded search engine that is head and shoulders above anything else in the market, providing a welcome and lucrative fundraising boost to charities of all sizes.”
Rum Doodle PR will work on publicity for Storm, as well as reaching out to potential charity partners in the UK. If you know of a charity that could benefit from its own branded search engine, visit www.storm.it or call Rum Doodle on 0191 275 9778 to find out more.
