Infographic: How to survive the office Christmas party
If you’re attending an office Christmas party this year, Lucas Blake have created the ultimate survival guide in the form of the infographic below. Make sure you follow these simple rules to make it out in one piece!
Don’t drink too much
Tis the season to be jolly, but not is that’s at the expense of your dignity and reputation. We all know that alcohol can impair your judgement, drinking too much of it could result in you doing or saying something that you’re regret when you’re back in the office on Monday.
Stay hydrated
If you are going to enjoy a festive cocktail or two, make sure that you drink plenty of water. As well as helping you to stay hydrated (alcohol is a diuretic) it can also reduce the negative effects of alcohol.
Avoid the Mistletoe
Alcohol lowers your inhibitions and can give the Dutch courage to talk, flirt and even go one step too far with your office crush. Even if you do have a genuine connection with a colleague, this is your business and not something to be shared with the entire office.
No shop talk
The office Christmas party is a time to celebrate during the holiday season. It’s not the place to discuss things that should be kept in the meeting room, nor is it a time that you should get grievances off of your chest. Have fun and enjoy the company of your colleagues.
Eat, then be merry
As well as drinking plenty of water with any alcohol you’ll be consuming during the office Christmas party, make sure that you eat enough. No matter whether you fill up during lunch or take advantage of the buffet, don’t start drinking on an empty stomach.
Become a social butterfly
Although it’s good to keep some level of professionalism during the office Christmas party, it’s also a chance for you to show your colleagues your personality. Use this setting as a chance to talk with people you don’t normally speak to and leave a lasting positive impression.
Take on board this advice and have yourself a merry office Christmas party!
