Artistic pupil named Winner of Festive colouring competition
Maxwell Hodge Solicitors in Woolton has celebrated the festive season by announcing Rory Hayes, aged 10, from Bishop Martin C E Primary School, as the winner of its Christmas colouring competition, winning £500 for his school and a £30 Liverpool One voucher for himself to spend.
Rory’s creation, which shows a star-shaped Father Christmas bauble and a snow globe bauble depicting Liverpool’s waterfront, was praised for use of colour and demonstration of imagination by the team from the firm’s Woolton Branch and its board of directors, staving off competition from 404 colourful and creative entries.
Five entries were shortlisted from each school. The Liverpool-based independent solicitors, which recently opened its ninth office on Allerton Road in Woolton, last month invited local schools to exercise their artistic skills on a specially designed festive bauble template, for a chance to win £500 to spend on an activity or new equipment in the New Year.
Five schools participated in the contest – Belle Vale Primary School, Woolton Primary School, Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School, Much Woolton Catholic Primary School and Bishop Martin C.E. Primary School.
Maxwell Hodge Woolton Office Manager Jennifer Howell said: “Every single entry we received was bright, festive and showed real creativity, but we could only pick one overall winner.
“Rory’s imaginative design stood out from the rest because of his unique adaptation of the baubles, transforming the star into a jolly Santa and the round bauble into a snow globe scene of Liverpool, even detailing the Liver Buildings and both cathedrals.
“We would like to congratulate Rory on his success and look forward to seeing how the school uses the £500 prize. We would also like to thank all of the other pupils who entered the competition, the standard was really high and we were all incredibly impressed by all of the artwork.”
Rory said: “I really enjoyed the competition and I am very excited to have won. I am proud that the judges liked my design and I am looking forward to spending my gift voucher.”
Head of School at Bishop Martin C.E. Primary School, Morfa Donnelly, added: “We are over-the-moon that Rory’s creation has been selected as winner of Maxwell Hodge Woolton’s colouring competition and would like to offer him our congratulations.
“We know that pupils here and from other local schools put a lot of effort into their entries so it is a really honour to have won. We look forward to using the prize money to invite a guest artist to the school to undertake some classes with our pupils and develop their artistic skills.”
