This week’s Yorkshire appointments
Barclays has made a new appointment to the team to offer support to businesses in the Yorkshire coastal area.
Tom Cawkwell, Business Banking Manager, will be responsible for looking after the needs of local businesses with a turnover of up to £5m in the Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington area.
Cawkwell has over eight years’ experience in business and relationship management for Barclays, and recently has been supporting SME businesses in the Hull area.
Cawkwell said: “I’m delighted to be part of the Barclays Business and Corporate expansion plans and hope to play a big part in their ambitious growth for the Yorkshire Coast area. With the ever strengthening team we will be well placed to take advantage of the opportunities within the local market.”

Tasmine Yelland, Oliver Stocks-Fryer, Aisha Parpia, Chloe Lilywhite and Daniella Whitelow, Hentons
Leeds-based accountants, Hentons is investing to support its growth plans.
The firm has made a raft of appointments with new graduates Tasmine Yelland, Oliver Stocks-Fryer, and Aisha Parpia, along with apprentices Chloe Lilywhite and Daniella Whitelow.
Nadeem Ahmed, managing partner of Hentons, said: “It is important that the firm looks to the future and we are committed to developing new talent to take Hentons forward. We will continue to recruit a mix of graduates and apprentices and invest in their training, to support our growth plans”
Hentons has supported Nadia Qadir to complete the CIPP Qualification, which is the ‘gold standard’ for payroll professionals. Nadia started at Hentons as an apprentice in 2012.
Hentons has a team of 60 staff, which support clients ranging from medical professionals and property investors to manufacturers, academies and charities. It offers accounts, audit, business strategy and tax advisory services with a partner led approach for all its clients.
Nick Alcock, Dacre Son & Hartley
Nick Alcock has been appointed as branch manager at Dacre Son & Hartley’s flagship Harrogate office, which is based on Albert Street in the centre of the town.
Nick, who is a Senior Associate Director at the firm, said: “I was born and bred in Harrogate and both my daughters go to school here. Having managed Dacres’ Knaresborough branch for 14 years and been the Harrogate district area valuer, I have a thorough understanding of the local marketplace.

Sarah Brown, Calbee UK
Calbee UK, the first European subsidiary of the £1.2bn Japanese savoury snacking manufacturer, Calbee Inc, has further expanded its Leeds based team with the appointment of Sarah Brown as Senior Brand Manager for Yushoi Snapea rice sticks.
Sarah, who has more than eight years’ experience as a brand manager having worked for a leading FMCG business in the confectionery market, will use the skills and knowledge she has developed to build the profile of the Yushoi brand, meeting with the company’s ambitious targets to become a leading supplier of savoury snacks by 2020.

Ben Hall, Bilfinger GVA
Bilfinger GVA has announced Ben Hall as the new Regional Senior Director in Leeds.
Hall, who will is taking over the 65-strong Yorkshire office, inherits a team in rude health which, under the stewardship of his predecessor Paul Manning, has almost doubled in size in less than five years, and has consistently grown its fee income year on year in what have been the most testing market conditions on record.
He will maintain his role as head of investment in the region.
Hall started in his new role this week alongside fellow Regional Senior Directors Roger Speirs in Newcastle and Alasdair Ramsay in Glasgow.
Their remits are to lead, strengthen and grow their respective offices in line with the company’s national and regional business strategy.

Alan Purdie, Glenbrae
Glenbrae, the Yorkshire-based manufacturer of quality, hand-finished knitwear, has announced the appointment of a new Brand Director.
The business is expanding its team with the addition of Alan Purdie, who joins with experience in the golfing industry. Bringing his expertise from both sporting and management roles, Alan will oversee the delivery of Glenbrae’s sales relationships, particularly in its heritage golf sector.

Stuart Lumb, Shulmans LLP
Shulmans LLP, the Yorkshire corporate law firm, has appointed Stuart Lumb within its Planning team.
Lumb has been recruited from Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. His specialities are in planning agreements, enforcement and policy and he brings a wealth of expertise in the completion of complex agreements under the Town and Country Planning Act and the Highways Act.
In addition, he is experienced in advising numerous local authority planning committees and defending judicial review claims. His appointment further strengthens Shulmans’ highly-skilled Planning department, managed by the nationally-recognised, Amanda Beresford.

Pauline Semple, DBL Logistics
A Sheffield-based haulage and logistics firm has appointed a new customer service manager.
DBL Logistics, based on Tinsley Park Road, has appointed Pauline Semple to head up the company’s new customer service department.
Pauline joins from Aviva, where she has worked since the age of 19 in various customer service roles.
Earl Robinson, sales director at DBL Logistics, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pauline to the DBL Logistics team. She brings with her a wealth of customer service experience which will allow us to further cater for our customers’ needs and improve upon the high standards of customer service which we pride ourselves on.
“Pauline will become the first port of call for all customer enquiries and manage all interactions between us, our valued customers and the UPN network service providers from the point of sale and thereafter.
“The creation of a department dedicated to customer service is testament to the growth we have enjoyed over the past 12 months, and this is something we will be looking to expand further in 2016.”
The company, which currently warehouses and distributes more than 120,000 pallets of goods across South Yorkshire and the North Midlands each year, is a founding member depot of the UPN (United Pallet Network), which has more than 85 depots throughout the UK and collects and delivers freight from across 26 countries in Europe.
Jonathan Dawson and Simon Burbridge, Ewemove York
North Yorkshire Estate Agency, Ewemove York, has strengthened its team with the appointment of two new associates.
Jonathan Dawson, a former retail manager, and Simon Burbridge, a former operations manager, who also previously ran his own business, have joined the York office of the business.
Samantha Haskins, director of Ewemove York, said: “I am very excited by the addition of our two new members, Jonathan Dawson and Simon Burbridge. They are both customer-focused and bring valuable knowledge and skills that will help fuel business growth. The future looks bright with them on board.”

Nationally, Ewemove had 39 branch areas in 2014 which has grown to 81 branch areas in 2015.
