Cheshire firm Mammy Jamia’s lands Waitrose deal
Dressing and preserve maker Mammy Jamia’s has secured a new listing with Waitrose.
The Cheshire-based family business’ range of fruit dressings has been snapped up by the supermarket chain and is now on sale in 250 of its stores across the country.
Andrew Cairns, who co-founded Mammy Jamia’s with his wife Sajmira in 2010, said: “We are delighted to have won the listing for our new range of dressings with Waitrose and have already had interest with other supermarkets about taking our products.
“Our plan was always to extend the range of premium products under the Mammy Jamia’s brand and we have a number of other ideas currently being worked on by Sajmira and Sophie who head up our new product development team.”
In addition to the Waitrose listing, Mammy Jamia’s products are stocked by food and drink retailer Booths. Further, the company has made headway overseas after securing listings with retailer LuLu Hypermarkets and El Corte Ingles, the Spanish department store.
Waitrose’s Jo Heywood said: “I was the buyer initially responsible for listing Mammy Jamia’s Premium Range Preserves and we’re delighted at Waitrose to now be the first to stock their wonderful new range of dressings.
“Mammy Jamia’s fruit-inspired dressings are an exciting and innovative addition to the category and we know our customers are going to love them.”
Andrew and Sajmira started out selling preserves at an indoor market. Today, Andrew’s brother Matt and his wife Sophie are also involved in the business.
