Online toolkit matches skills with jobs
Businesses in Barrow-in-Furness can find skilled workers for job vacancies using a new online service which aims to plug the gap between employment opportunities and those seeking work.
Training provider PHX Training has launched PHX Jobmatch, a bespoke service for employers who are struggling to find the right person for available roles.
Through the online portal, www.phxjobmatch.co.uk, employers can post a job vacancy at no cost or sign up to receive detailed recommendations of candidates for the post.
Similarly, individuals seeking jobs can register on the website, allowing them to search through jobs, upload a CV and receive alerts when a new job matches their skills or profile.
The service also offers advice and guidance, both to businesses in the region and people looking for work.
PHX development director, Shirley Williams, said the service initially came about as a way to help its learners find work once they had completed training with PHX.
She said: “Many of our learners are jobseekers wanting to make themselves more employable, or people wanting to change careers. Our training courses were equipping learners with the right skills and now we can complete the lifecycle for them into employment.”
“At the same time, businesses in the area are struggling to find staff with the right skills, so it made sense to come up with a way to fill available roles and help our learners and other unemployed people to find work at the same time.”
The initiative will provide options for a diverse range of people and companies at all levels, from apprenticeships through to senior roles, with many roles supported by training at the appropriate level.
A specialist team is also on hand for those looking for apprenticeships, traineeships or work experience to help maximise effective support and job opportunities.
