Manchester United sign global deal with outdoor apparel brand
Manchester United have announced a new global partnership with Columbia Sportswear, the US-based outdoor clothing company.
The deal will see the American brand become United’s first official outdoor apparel partner.
Richard Arnold, the the club’s group managing director, said: “Manchester United is proud to be partnering with Columbia Sportswear to bring our fans a new and exciting range of club branded products.
“Like Manchester United, Columbia is steeped in history and has a reputation for creating innovative premium products.”
He added: “Available in over 100 countries, Columbia enjoys an international reach that matches the club’s.”
Speaking further, Mr Arnold said he is looking forward to giving fans “a new way of expressing their support” for the club.
The agreement will see Columbia Sportswear creating dual-branded outdoor clothing. The firm, founded in 1938, produces gear for hiking, climbing and mountaineering, in addition to water and snow-based activities.
Joe Boyle, the senior vice president of Columbia merchandising and design, commented: “We are excited by the opportunity to unite the pinnacle franchise in sport with the global leader in the outdoor industry.
“Manchester United and Columbia share a commitment to performance and innovation. Together, we will deliver to Manchester United fans around the world an attractive line of outerwear featuring Columbia’s most advanced proprietary technologies.”
The new Manchester United-branded range will be revealed in Autumn 2016.
