This week’s Yorkshire appointments

Barclays has made two new appointments to the York team.

Kelvin Smith joins the York team as Relationship Director within the Corporate team and will be responsible for businesses with a turnover in excess of £5m in York and the surrounding North Yorkshire area.

Smith previously looked after clients in Hull and is looking forward to meeting the York professional community.

James Lee joins the team as a Business Banking Manager and will be responsible for looking after the needs of local businesses with a turnover of £400k up to £1m in the York, Brigg, Selby and Goole areas.

Lee, who has over seven years’ experience in business and relationship management with Barclays and Santander, started his career as a personal banker and more recently has been supporting start-up businesses in the York area.

Steve Hanson, head of business and corporate banking for Barclays in Humber and York, commented: “Recruiting talent from both within Barclays and externally is key to our expansion plans and both Kelvin’s and James’ experience with local businesses will be a huge asset for the customers across North and East Yorkshire.”

Clementine Duckett, LCF Barber Titleys

Law firm LCF Barber Titleys, which is part of LCF Law, has expanded its corporate division with the appointment of Clementine Duckett.

Clementine will oversee the department’s strategy and business development in Harrogate and North Yorkshire.

Clementine worked with Pinsent Masons in London before spending the last three years at a boutique Leeds law firm where she was predominantly advising companies and shareholders on mergers and acquisitions as well as private equity transactions.

Mara Gosling and Siobhan Ritchie, Legatus Law

Yorkshire law firm Legatus Law has made two new appointments to strengthen its Leeds-based practice.

The firm, which recently completed a strategic move of its head office to a 1,046 sq ft prime city centre location, has appointed experienced solicitor Mara Gosling and Huddersfield University graduate Siobhan Ritchie.

Mara joins Legatus from Yorkshire law firm hlw Keeble Hawson LLP. She specialises in insolvency, turnaround and litigation and will support the firm’s commercial and litigation team.

Siobhan graduated with a first class honours degree from The University of Huddersfield in 2015 and joins the firm as a trainee solicitor.

Speaking about her appointment, Mara Gosling said: “Legatus Law has ambitious plans for growth and will play an important part in supporting businesses over the coming years. The firm is vibrant and creative, and I very much look forward to working with my new team.”

Siobhan Ritchie added: “The fast-paced and motivated environment of Legatus Law is an exciting place to be a trainee solicitor and I am looking forward to working with Rashmi, learning from her and her team and supporting their expanding work with businesses.”

Gavin Hilton, Calbee UK

Gavin Hilton has joined Calbee UK based in Leeds as a product manager.

Gavin will call upon his previous experience at Burton Biscuits, where he was responsible for the own label product range.

This involved liaising with retailers including Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Sainsburys and Morrisons, to work with the wider group of colleagues, secure further listings and develop new savoury snacks for the UK market.

“The last 12 months have been a real rollercoaster and we know that next year will be no different.

Jurate Cook, myhrtoolkit

The accounts team at Sheffield-based HR software firm myhrtoolkit has been strengthened with the appointment of Jurate Cook.

Jurate joins the company as Accounts Administrator, having previously worked at Medigold Health as Customer Service Co-ordinator and prior to that for Capita Health & Wellbeing in a variety of accountancy roles.

She will be working alongside Vanessa Stuart-Harris, who has worked with the company for 4 years as Accounts Administrator.

Bob Teasdale, Operations Director said: “Jurate’s appointment is key to supporting our account function now our client base has grown beyond 500 customers. In addition, she will be extracting useful management data to inform future strategy and process enhancements.”

Jurate added: “I am really excited about joining myhrtoolkit and being involved in a role that covers so many aspects of finance and accounting”.

Kathryn Moran, DPP

Kathryn Moran has joined DPP, the independent national planning consultancy, as a senior planner in its Leeds office.

Kathryn, who took a degree in Town & Regional Planning at Leeds Metropolitan University. has returned to the city following spells working at a number of London councils.

Stuart Leslie, Esh Construction

Esh Construction has appointed Stuart Leslie as divisional director of Esh Build in Yorkshire.

Mr Leslie will direct the business development, CSR, pre-construction, production and commercial delivery teams. He joins from a career of 26 years with the Kier Group, where he held positions ranging from site engineer to contracts manager.

Andy Gawthorpe, regional managing director of Esh Construction, said: “Stuart brings a wealth of experience to the role and will champion operational excellence across the commercial build business.

“Esh Group has seen strong results and is well placed for continued expansion in Yorkshire.”

Esh Group recently announced a strong set of financial results with turnover up 43 per cent on the previous year to £277m, and a leap in profit to £9.5m against £3.2m in 2013.

Dacre, Son & Hartley, Sophie Tillisch

Dacre, Son & Hartley has appointed Sophie Tillisch as lettings manager for its Harrogate, Knaresborough and Wetherby offices.

Sophie will support the company’s aggressive expansion plans in the rentals market, as the firm continues to build on its substantial rental portfolio throughout the region.

Sophie, who has worked in the property industry for almost 10 years, most recently heading up the rental operation at an independent agent in Harrogate, has a wealth of relevant experience.

In her new role, she will work alongside lettings manager Helen Ward to manage the company’s existing rentals portfolio and its team of ten professional letting agents across North Yorkshire.

Sophie said: “Dacres is particularly well-known for its sales services, but I plan to make the market just as aware of our lettings division and the first-rate services we provide to landlords and tenants.

“I hope to build on the firm’s already respected reputation in the region and am actively seeking to bring more properties to the rentals market across every price bracket.”
