Amec Foster Wheeler lands £130m US Army contract

Engineering giant Amec Foster Wheeler has secured a nine-figure contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) European district.

The $183m (£130m) deal will see the Knutsford-headquartered firm supporting the USACE’s Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System.

As part of the agreement, Amec Foster Wheeler construct launcher foundations, power plant facilities, warehouses, apron and crane pads and other elements on site at Redzikowo Base in Poland, supporting the intergovernmental military alliance NATO in Eastern Europe.

The contract win follows news earlier this month that Amec Foster Wheeler managed to secure a place on the United States Air Force’s Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) Architect-Engineering (A-E) 2013 services contract, a multi-year contract potentially worth up to $950m (£660m).
