Global rollout of “game-changing product” drives sales growth for Liverpool manufacturer
ChargePoint Technology, the Liverpool-based precision containment valve manufacturer, has announced year-on-year sales growth of 9%.
The company’s sales hit £8.3m in 2015 and, while the increase has been attributed to healthy sales of its existing product range across the US, Europe and Asia, ChargePoint has also pointed to the rollout of its patented new valve system, AseptiSafe, as a significant growth driver.
The global launch of the AseptiSafe bio valve, which allows companies to keep drugs made from biological sources, like vaccines, free from free from bacterial contamination, marked ChargePoint’s first foray into the biopharma sector.
Chris Eccles, the company’s MD, said: “It is a revolutionary product and at a stroke takes down the high grade space requirement from a room to something about the size of a dinner plate. So we are talking about an industrial step change.
“We are delighted with reaction to AseptiSafe so far and have achieved significant new revenues since launch. It is a case of walking before we run, but the fact is we have a game-changer in our marketplace.”
He added: “Overall, we have achieved 77% sales growth across the last four years and AseptiSafe has certainly raised our own expectations for what can deliver in the next four years.”
The US remains ChargePoint’s biggest marketplace, making up 20% of the firm’s total revenues.
The Mayor of Liverpool’s inward investment agency, Invest Liverpool, has worked alongside ChargePoint to support its growth strategy.
Ellen Cutler, the agency’s director, said: “ChargePoint is a superlative example of pioneering British invention and it’s fantastic to see world-class engineering companies like this thriving in our city region.
“The business’s investment in R&D has created a game-changing product which, coupled with the confidence and dynamism of its brilliant young management team, has helped the company to crack global markets and achieve fast growth in the USA, China and India.”
She added: “Our team has worked closely with Chargepoint from the outset to ensure that the company is supported in its growth ambitions and it’s very encouraging to witness its success story continuing to unfold.”
ChargePoint, which employs 62 people, is moving into a new production plant adjacent to its existing site in Speke this summer.
The 27,000 sq ft facility is being fitted out with over 750k of new machinery, taking the firm’s total investment in the site past the £1m barrier.
