Liverpool FC to create 1000 jobs in biggest ever recruitment drive

Liverpool FC have announced plans to create over 1,000 new matchday roles before next season’s launch of the expanded Main Stand.

The recruitment drive, which has been hailed as “the biggest in the club’s history” on the LFC website, will allow Liverpool to accommodate the additional 8,500 fans coming to Anfield on matchdays.

From this week (March 7), the Reds will also hire for bar and waiting staff roles, in addition to tour guides, museum staff and other hospitality and events-related jobs.

The club’s HR director, Lise Jenkins, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the expansion of the Main Stand will give a huge number of people an opportunity to be part of our football family.

“This recruitment drive supports our commitment to creating opportunities for local people and giving fans in the stadium the best possible experience.”

She added: “Anfield is well known for the warm welcome it gives visitors from all over the world and our matchday team is an extremely important part of that.”

As part of their recruitment drive, Liverpool have also introduced a new ‘ready to work’ course designed to improve the job prospects of the city’s unemployed.

The programme will provide candidates with support and qualifications, potentially allowing them to access the catering and hospitality opportunities on offer at Anfield.

Liverpool’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Ann O’Byrne, commented: “This is a really important moment on the Anfield regeneration journey which has never only been about place, but also most critically about people and prosperity.

“All the partners, Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Football Club and Your Housing Group, have recognised that improving economic conditions, job prospects and life chances are key for the project to succeed in the long-term.”

She continued: “From the start the football club has been increasing employment and skills in the neighbourhood and this large number of matchday roles and their training scheme is wonderful news for the area and the city.”

Once complete, the expanded Main Stand at Anfield will seat 20.5k supporters, making it one of the biggest all-seater single stands in European football.
