Galliford Try submits plans for £9m residential schemes in Gorton
Housing and regeneration firm Galliford Try Partnerships is seeking to transform part of Manchester with dozens of new homes.
The firm, which markets its properties under the Linden Homes banner, has submitted a planning application for a £9m project to build 62 houses across two sites in Gorton.
While 48 of the newbuilds will be located off Crossley Street, 14 will be delivered off Belle Vue Street. If planning consent is granted, the developments will comprise a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes with prices starting from around £130k.
Last month Galliford Try signed an agreement for sale with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the current owner of the two sites.
Manchester Place, which comprises the HCA and Manchester City Council, secured outline planning permission for the project in 2014 after investing £850k in preparing the sites for development.
If the greenlight is given, Galliford Try will aim to launch construction work on the sites this summer.
The firm’s development director, Darren Leary, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the development partner for the Gorton sites and also for the opportunity to continue our ongoing relationship with Manchester City Council.
“This scheme will contribute to the council’s wider regeneration aims for the area by delivering high quality family homes for sale, widening and improving the housing choice locally.”
