Manchester Law School Shortlisted for Legal Education Provider of the Year

Manchester Law School at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) has been shortlisted for The Legal Education Provider of the Year Award in the inaugural Solicitors Journal Legal Awards.

A spokesperson for Solicitors Journal said: “The judges were most impressed with the diverse range of courses offered at MMU, but most notable was the retention rates of apprentices it had sent into law firms. We are proud to have MMU on our shortlist.”

Skills minister Nick Boles has praised Manchester Met’s apprenticeship scheme. He said: “Higher and degree apprenticeships like the ones being offered at Manchester Metropolitan University will give people the opportunity to study for a top class qualification while gaining hands on experience in the workplace.”

Apprenticeships are only part of the story at Manchester Law School; the university is growing to meet the needs of an evolving legal sector, offering new programmes alongside the traditional courses. These include: the LLB (Hons) degrees for undergraduate students; the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course for aspiring solicitors; the barristers’ Bar Professional Training Course, and continuing professional development for the wider legal profession, with the masters degrees in law. The law school has recently added the Legal Apprenticeships and LLB (Hons) long-distance learning degree to its suite of courses.

The winners will be announced on 25 May at a ceremony held in the Connaught Rooms in London, hosted by eminent broadcaster and former Independent editor Andrew Marr.
