Liverpool ONE welcomes 200-millionth visitor
Nearly eight years after it first opened, retail and leisure complex Liverpool ONE (L1) has hit a new nine-figure visitor milestone.
The site, which is run by investment firm Grosvenor Fund Management (GFM), welcomed Crosby resident Rachel Newman as its 200-millionth visitor.
Rachel, who was shopping in L1 with her one-year-old son, commented: “As a family we regularly choose Liverpool ONE to shop or eat.
“It feels like every time we visit, there’s something new at Liverpool ONE: lots to keep the children entertained, new shops, and lots of places to choose from to eat.”
The news follows a series of milestones achieved by the multi-million pound complex over the last 12 months.
In 2015, footfall at the hub passed the 28m mark for the first time, representing a year-on-year increase of 3%. Overall sales, meanwhile, rose by 8.5% against 2014’s figures, while catering sales leapt 12.5% year on year.
Further, 29 new brands snapped up space at L1 in the past year, which is a third more than in 2014. Newcomers included street food brand Chips A GoGo, lingerie retailer Victoria’s Secret and Roxy Ball Room, the Leeds-headquartered food and drink chain.
After handing Rachel a £200 L1 gift card, the site’s estate director, Chris Bliss, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Rachel as our 200-millionth customer.
“Our aim is to continually provide something new and different for our visitors, so it’s great to hear what Rachel enjoys here and why, like so many other people, her and her family keep coming back.”
He added: “A great range of exciting brands has chosen to invest at Liverpool ONE and these have certainly played a key role in reaching this incredible milestone so quickly.”
