Knutsford firm Crawford Healthcare pens new transatlantic deal

Cheshire-based wound care and dermatology firm Crawford Healthcare is set to expand its presence across the Atlantic after securing a new deal with US-based group purchasing organisation (GPO) Premier Inc.

The Knutsford firm’s US subsidiary, Crawford Healthcare Inc., will see an additional 3,600 hospitals and 120k healthcare facilities granted access to its product portfolio as part of the agreement.

The deal follows another announced in February that saw Crawford named as an approved company on the Federal Supply Schedule, enabling it to supply its products to an estimated 9m American armed forces veterans.

Richard Anderson, the CEO of Crawford Healthcare, commented: “This agreement with Premier allows us to reach a further massive patient group in a key target market.

“Being able to sell and supply via the large GPOs like Premier will enable a truly meaningful impact on the way wound care is delivered in the US, where growing international health issues such as diabetes continue to trouble healthcare providers.”

According to Crawford, advanced wound care in the US has an estimated yearly value to the healthcare sector of around $25bn.

Speaking further, Richard said: “The success of Crawford Healthcare’s UK-developed products means that US healthcare providers are increasingly recognising the positive impact Crawford’s products can have on their clinical and economic outcomes.”

Now, Crawford is expecting US-based healthcare providers “to play a key role” in its international growth.
