Costa Coffee-approved recruitment app raises £1m in seed funding
YapJobs, the recruitment app which aims to connect jobseekers and employers in the hospitality industry, has announced it has secured £1m in funding.
The app, which already counts the likes of Costa Coffee and Bang & Olufsen amongst employers using the service, is to use the seed funding to further roll-out its service across London.
Funding came from angel investor Ziad Tassabehji, along with a number of other private investors.
Focusing on the hospitality and service sector, the London-based tech firm puts jobseekers in real-time contact with employers, alerting them as soon as a position comes available and, since its launch in November, claims to have processed over 50,000 applications with over 600 employers.
Shahzad Ali, Chief Executive Officer, said: “I grew up in the heat of a restaurant and know that the people employed are the lifeblood of the service industry. But I also know how the wrong environment can make it a very difficult place to work which has an impact on staff retention.
“That’s why I launched YapJobs, to help the best people find work quickly in the places that they really want to work. We want to use technology to help drive a real change in the industry, ensuring that people are also matched to company culture which will help promote a better working environment across the board.
“We don’t want people to be wage slaves. We want them to find the jobs that make them feel happy, empowered and fulfilled so they are more likely to stay and perform better in those roles.”
