Iceland to bring The Food Warehouse concept to Trafford Peel Retail Park
Frozen food firm Iceland has revealed plans to bring its new shop format, The Food Warehouse, to Trafford Peel Retail Park in Greater Manchester.
The company has signed up for a 10,000 sq ft unit at the Urmston-based shopping hub on a 10-year lease.
The Food Warehouse stores target families and bulk buyers, as well as those in the hospitality and catering sectors.
Trafford Peel Retail Park’s asset and development manager, Kevin Keigher, said: “The addition of The Food Warehouse to our mix of retail and food and beverage already offered at Trafford Peel Retail Park, strengthens our offer, enabling us to further meet customer demand.
“Whilst The Food Warehouse is a relatively new retailer, we’ve been impressed by their ability to build upon the successful frozen ranges of Iceland whilst offering a wide range of chilled, fresh and branded grocery goods.”
He continued: “We expect them to trade exceptionally well within the prime shopping location of Trafford City.
“Introducing the Food Warehouse to the park is systematic to the park’s evolution to adapt to changing consumer shopping habits. Peel Retail Park looks forward to working with The Food Warehouse to roll out further stores across the portfolio.”
The agreement with Iceland follows a deal signed with discount retailer B&M for the launch of a new 20,000 sq ft store at the shopping park, adding to a retail mix that already includes TKMaxx, Home Bargains, Sports Direct and Dunelm Mill.
Additionally, a Nandos restaurant was established at Trafford Peel Retail Park in December last year.
The Food Warehouse is due to open its doors on April 26.
